It's all about "mothering the mother."

Birth Doula,
Nurturing Your Journey Through Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond

The word doula (pronounced "doo-la") comes from a Greek word meaning caregiver - it refers to experienced women who offer emotional and practical support for women and their families before, during and after childbirth.

Why Choose Me?

Birth Support, Manawatu, Rebekah The Doula

My passion for supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period has been with me for as long as I can remember.

In today’s world, birth often feels like just another medical procedure – something that happens behind closed doors, with little conversation about the profound experience it truly is. The transition from “not mother” to “mother” is so much more than a moment; it’s a transformative journey.

Birth is a beautiful and intimate experience, one that is often accompanied by a mix of excitement and uncertainty. As your doula, I am here to help you embrace this journey with confidence and joy. I will work with you to unpack any fears, build your excitement, and empower you to feel prepared for the incredible arrival of your baby.

In my role as a doula, I am committed to empowering and supporting you every step of the way. I believe in your innate strength and abilities, and I am here to help you recognize and embrace them. I provide both emotional and physical support, and I can connect you with resources to ensure this time in your life is not just a milestone, but a celebration

How it Works

1. Consultation
and Booking

Birth Support Manawatu, Doula

When you enquire, we’ll arrange a time for a quick catch up to chat a bit more about your birth. This is a good time for you to see whether I’m the right fit for you, and to ask any questions before booking.

We can do this over the phone, or in person.

2. Antenatal Visits and Birth Preparation Meetings

Antenatal Support, Rebekah the Doula, Manawatu

You’ll have three antenatal visits, which can be used for birth planning, preparation, and sharing your needs to have an empowered and informed birth. This includes learning about different techniques to use for pain relief during labor, positions you may want to use, medications offered for labor and choices around where to birth, inductions, c-sections and more.

3. On Call Time
24/7

On-Call Birth Doula, Manawatu, Rebekah The Doula

I will be on call for you 24/7 from 38 weeks until birth, or earlier for mothers expecting multiples.

4. Day of Birth

Birth Support, Manawatu, Rebekah The Doula

I arrive at your birth when you want me! I can come to your home to provide support right from early labour, or meet you at your place of birth when you’re closer to having your baby. The support you need is your choice

5. Postpartum Visit

Postpartum Care, Rebekah The Doula

After your birth, I provide one 2-hour visit. This is a chance to talk over your birth, to receive some support and help if needed, and to check in.
